Alberta immigration programs

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program nominates selected workers and entrepreneurs for permanent residence, but nomination is not the federal PR decision. In 2026, Alberta uses worker expressions of interest and targeted invitations aligned with labour and regional priorities.

Worker pathways begin with Alberta facts

The Alberta Opportunity, Tourism and Hospitality, Rural Renewal and dedicated health pathways use different combinations of current Alberta work, occupation, employer, community endorsement and work-permit status. An eligible expression of interest is not an application or invitation.

The province introduced a $135 Worker Expression of Interest fee on April 7, 2026.

Express Entry selection is provincial

Alberta can search the federal Express Entry pool and invite candidates whose profiles fit stream rules and provincial priorities. A nomination adds 600 CRS points after acceptance but still requires a complete federal permanent-residence application.

Candidates cannot demand selection merely because they meet a published minimum.

Rural and sector priorities change

For 2026, Alberta identifies health care, technology, construction, manufacturing, aviation, agriculture and Rural Renewal communities among its priorities. Draw scores, volumes and occupational focus can change throughout the year.

Federal routes remain available

Express Entry without nomination, family sponsorship, study-to-work routes and federal business or humanitarian programs can lead to Alberta. A provincial nomination is only one option.

Nominees must genuinely intend to live in Alberta and report material employment or family changes as required.
