Overview
Express Entry provincial nominations
An Express Entry-linked nomination can add 600 CRS points, but the candidate must qualify for a provincial stream and remain eligible for at least one federal Express Entry program.
Provincial eligibility comes first
Apply to the province under a stream linked to Express Entry or respond to its invitation process. The province can ask for the Express Entry profile number and job-seeker validation code to connect the records.
A provincial notification of interest is not a nomination. Complete the provincial application and receive the formal nomination before expecting CRS points.
Accept the nomination in the federal account
IRCC sends a nomination message to the Express Entry profile. The candidate must accept it within the period shown. Once accepted and validated, it normally adds 600 CRS points.
The profile details should match the provincial application. Changes in employment, family status or destination plans should be disclosed through the processes required by both governments.
Federal program eligibility remains necessary
The nominee must still meet the Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades requirements that support the profile. A nomination does not cure expired language results, insufficient work experience or another federal-program defect.
After an invitation, IRCC reassesses the score and federal eligibility from the submitted evidence. The 60-day application deadline applies.
Keep the provincial intention current
The application is built on an intention to live in the nominating province or territory. Evidence can include job search, licensing, housing research, family connections and a credible plan for the household.
Contact the province before assuming a job loss or relocation has no effect. Some nomination certificates carry employer, occupation or other conditions.

When to get legal advice
Review a nomination when the job or destination plan changes.
A nomination can be withdrawn or become unusable if its underlying conditions no longer exist. Get advice before filing when the employer relationship ended, the family plans another province or the federal Express Entry program is uncertain.
The nominating employer withdrew or changed the offer
The candidate no longer plans to settle in the province
Federal Express Entry eligibility may have expired
