Overview

Study permit document checklist

The correct checklist depends on where and how the student applies. A complete file combines IRCC’s general list, online questions, visa-office instructions and documents required by the applicant’s particular facts.

Secure the school documents

Provide a valid letter of acceptance from the correct DLI and campus. Include a PAL, TAL or Quebec CAQ when required and evidence of any exemption claimed.

Keep tuition receipts and correspondence explaining deferrals or changed start dates.

Prove identity and personal history

Submit the passport pages requested, compliant photographs and accurate family, travel, education and employment information. Translate documents using IRCC’s rules.

Disclose refusals, status violations, charges and convictions in the appropriate forms and explanation.

Build financial and academic evidence

Bank history, sponsor records, loans and scholarships should support the stated budget. Transcripts, diplomas, employment letters and a focused study plan establish why the course is credible.

Country-specific visa-office instructions may request additional records not shown on the general checklist.

Control the final submission

Check dates, names, currency conversions and answers across every form. Upload legible files under the right document fields and retain a complete copy of what was submitted.

Biometrics and a medical exam may follow or be required up front depending on the instructions and intended work.
