British Columbia immigration programs
The BC Provincial Nominee Program has Skills Immigration and Entrepreneur Immigration pathways. Registration or eligibility does not guarantee an invitation, and 2026 invitations reflect targeted provincial economic priorities.
Skills Immigration is employer- and occupation-sensitive
The program assesses the job, wage, employer, qualifications, immigration status and intended residence. Registration creates a score in categories that use the pool; only invited candidates can submit the nomination application.
Employer eligibility and support documents are part of the case, not an afterthought.
Review the current invitation record
BC publishes invitation dates and selection factors. In 2026 it has issued targeted invitations for high economic impact and specified care and rural or remote health needs rather than relying on one permanent general score.
Past scores do not predict the next invitation.
Entrepreneurs use a different process
Base and regional entrepreneur options examine business experience, net worth, investment, community fit and active management. Registration, invitation, a performance agreement and business operation precede nomination.
Buying a passive property or paying an intermediary does not create eligibility.
Compare federal and community routes
Applicants may instead qualify through federal Express Entry, family sponsorship, work or study, or federal community programs operating in participating BC communities. Provincial nomination is not required to live in BC after federal selection.
Nominees must maintain a genuine intention to reside in the province.
